In 1953 Chevrolet developed the Corvette to compete with the foreign invasion with the likes of MGA/Ferrari; the two seat speedsters wasn’t a large market but a very noticeable entry. Chevrolet used the “blue flame six’. Keep in mind the V/8 didn’t appear until 1955.
Ford being famous for the V/8 motors saw what was going on and introduced the 1955 T-Bird and a V/8 motor putting Corvette in the back seat so to speak.
The 1955 T-Bird was a hit with its V/8 aggressive styling and performance!
